Anatomy geek. Lifelong student of yoga and movement. A quietly passionate teacher who believes in adaptive, health-aware practice for real bodies and real lives.
Vern is Gaulish/Celtic for the alder tree — springlike, full of life; a symbol of strength, safety and protection on the Celtic Ogham. Ver / Vernal is Latin for spring and spring-green. In Norse, Vern means shield.
Twenty years of yoga, movement & care
Yoga has been part of my life for more than 20 years — my first experience was Yoga Nidra at school, aged 13. Before teaching, I worked in music production and performance, stage make-up, floristry, hairdressing and care work.
Yoga and movement are my healthcare and my sanity. They helped me lose and maintain a four-stone weight loss, stabilise an underactive thyroid, manage flare-ups from a back injury, and navigate mental health, bereavement through suicide and a mild form of fibromyalgia and dysautonomia. They aren't a cure — but they can be a beautiful set of tools.
I'm passionate about what I do, and grateful for the privileged position of being able to pass this knowledge on — while also introducing amazing guest teachers for workshops and inspiring students to become teachers themselves.
Outside of teaching: history nerd, genealogy enthusiast, drum player, singer, wannabe dancer — and happiest in nature.
